Mexico in Brief - Popular resorts in Mexico
a short visitors guide, find places to stay or things to do.
The Popular Tourist Spots
Mexico, sun, sand, excitement, relaxations, sophistication, history,
nightlife and shopping it has it all and more; this is really a short
visitors guide to Mexico and outlines the more popular places to visit and
resorts to stay in.
Mexico's Pacific Resorts
Mexico's Pacific seaboard encompasses The Baja Peninsula, with San
Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, collectively this area is Los Cabos, and
is definitely a good place to go for excellent golf Sport Fishing and
magnificent sunsets, perhaps even a little whale watching.
Over the Gulf of California and east of the Baja Peninsula lies the Resort
of Mazatlan, perhaps a little more industrial than others as it is a large
sea port, and only recently realising its own potential as a tourist resort,
it has some great beaches.
Further down the Pacific Coast are Puerto Vallarta Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo
and Acapulco one of the more well known and popular destinations.
Puerto Vallarta is very popular and has a good mix of the old Mexico as well
as the tourist side you would expect, visit the old town for a glimpse into
its past, as well as taking advantage of the beauty of the Bandaras bay and
its beaches
Ixtapa is really the older part of Zihuatenejo, and is still to some extent
relatively unspoiled, whilst Zihuatenejo is a purpose built resort area,
offering all and everything you would expect from a beach vacation in
Mexico, whilst still not being as commercial as Acapulco, on which it is
modelled.
Mexico's Caribbean Resorts
On the Caribbean side of this country the Yucatan Peninsula and Quintana Roo
have the best places to stay once again the most popular are Cancun Cozumel
and the Riviera Maya resorts
Cancun and the Riviera Maya are on the Peninsula whilst Cozumel is really
and Island sitting around 12 miles out to sea.
If you get tired of the beaches of Cozumel or require more of an historical
side to your vacation as well as sun and sand then head to the mainland and
visit the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum, but no matter where you
stay in this area you will find excellent hotels, an exciting nightlife and
good food.
